SWA: Battlezone Announced

The following is courest of Scottish Wrestling Alliance:

On November 23rd the stars of the Scottish Wrestling Alliance make a return to St Brides in Motherwell and this time, they’re bringing with them Scottish wrestling’s biggest fight! Thirty men will enter Motherwell with one goal; to walk out as the winner of the 30-man battle royal Battlezone match!

The rules are simple. The match starts with two men, and another enters every 90 seconds until all 30 competitors have entered the match. Eliminations are made by being ejected from the ring, submission, pin-fall or knockout until one man remains to capture the honour of winning this huge event and earn the right to challenge for the Scottish Heavyweight Championship!

The Battlezone has always been an iconic part of SWA with it’s winners often excelling into the main event! Over the years we’ve seen stars born, champions crowned and controversy unfold. Back in 2010, Eric Canyon stole a victory in the Battlezone by making himself a ‘surprise entrant’ and eliminating an unsuspecting Andy Anderson to earn the right to face Scott Renwick – another Battlezone winner who’s career skyrocketed after his first win – in a steel cage main event at the Gathering the following year. We’ve also seen the rules change including the Scottish title being awarded to the winner in 2006!

But whatever the rules, whatever the prize, the Battlezone has always been the most thrilling, the most exciting and the most rewarding match in Scottish wrestling! With thirty men focused on this huge oppertunity to face Mikey Whiplash for the Scottish Championship, this will truly be the biggest fight in Scottish wrestling history!

The night is also set to feature Scottish Heavyweight Champion Mike Whiplash in action, Scotland’s Tag Team Champions and hometown favourites John ‘The Bomb’ Graham and Nathan Black, Motherwell’s own rising star Fiona Fraser and much more including the homecoming of SWA Laird of the Ring Champion Joe Coffey in his first match in an SWA ring since touring Japan with Zero1.

Expect further matches to be announced at facebook.com/scottishwrestling and scottishwrestling.co.uk as we head towards Battlezone 2012.

SWA Battlezone takes place at St Brides Hall, Coursington Road, Motherwell on Friday November 23rd. Doors open at 6:30pm with the first match scheduled for 7pm. Tickets will be on sale upon entry priced £10 general admission, £8 child and concession and £30 for a family of four.
